Sewed the binding  to the front of Licorice All Sorts over the weekend.  Just need to attach it to the back and add a hanger.

This is what it looks like on the back.  So glad I didn't leave weaving in the ends until last.  Looking forward to stitching the binding down to the back.

Finished Broken Sugar Bowl for the Farmer's Wife fb SAL.  With so many tiny pieces in theses blocks, I've started using a 1/2 inch seam and found it a lot easier to handle for hand piecing.

The Rain Fell by Little House Needleworks is high on the stitching to do list.

It took one step closer last night, when I dyed a piece of 14 count aida.  Really happy with the way it turned out.

While the dye was doing it's thing, I started picking out floss.  The peach and pale purple will be swapped out for something else, as they don't really fit.

Friday Night Sew In

It's time for Friday Night Sew In by Wendy over at Sugar Lane Designs.

I've been thinking for a while about making another Farmer's Wife Quilt.  I made one when the book came out.   After seeing Wendy's lovely blocks on this post, I joined The Farmer's Wife BOW Stitchalong on Facebook.  This is week 11, so it won't  be too hard to catch up.

This was my starting point last night on the Broken Dishes block.

There was a slight hiccup.

Then right back on track.  I decided not to tempt fate and left it here.

There was also a bit of cross stitching on Smell My Feet by La-D-Da.  It's on pale green 25 count perle linen (my phone hasn't picked up the color).

Thank you, Wendy, for hosting.  I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else got up to.

A small FFO from "The Box of Doom" (UFO box).  The 3 1/2 pineapple block finishes the mini iron bag off nicely
.

The triangles in this mini wall hanging have been in the box for nearly seven years.   No idea what they were going to be used for.  Frankenbatting uses up some odd strips of batting.  1 inch sashing was added.  It's being quilted along the edge of all the strips.  The ends are being weaved in as each line of quilting is finished, which will go a lot faster when I pick up my new glasses today.  This will be finished in a week.

A fq bundle of Kate Spain fabric has been luring in deep stash for an eon.  Little Genius by Just Get It Done Quilts is a quilt in a day project, but was abandoned a few months ago.

When these fqs turned up, it explained why the layout  looked wishy washy.  The blocks will be frogged, then these will be added, with sashing, to make it large enough to fit a double bed.  It's the largest ufo and will be finished by the end of November.  That will leave enough time to finish a wall hanging, a few ruler covers and an apron by the end of the year.  Then the Box of Doom will be empty.

10/9/19

Hello!  Welcome to my blog and first post.  My name is Sue.  I've been cross stitching for 37 years, quilting for 20 and knitting for 15.   I'm Australian and live with my husband and childerbeasts (dogs and snakes) in North Carolina.

For the last few months I've been working on my quilting UFO pile.

Gobble It Up by Kristina Brinkerhoff of Center Street Quilts. (Better Homes and Gardens Quilts and More)  All the fabric was from stash, with some deep stash diving to find the hand dyed yellow/orange fabric.  The eyes don't look quite right, so they'll be changed for smaller buttons.

Too Fa-Boo-Lous is from the book "Oh, the Possibilities...FOR HALLOWEEN!" by Kimberbell.  Finished just in time for Halloween.  The flowers finish it off and they were easy to make.

This was the first hand applique I've made and I liked it very much.  Next time I'll know only to clip the inside curves.  All ten projects in the book are adorable.  This won't be the only one I make.

Thanksgiving Bird by Heart In Hand was stitched on 14 count aida that was tea dyed.  I don't do anything fancy to tea dye, just throw the fabric in a saucepan of lukewarm tea (from teabags) and let it sit for a few hours.

It sat in the finishing pile for a while until I spotted a fq of this fabric in Walmart.  I couldn't resist making it into a wall hanging.
