That's enough of a social media holiday. ☺

This lot went up early on Valentines Day.  In by the skin of my teeth.  Lol

Grey made the flamingo and the bells.

This adorable little stitch is May Trifle by Melissa (pinkernpunkinquilting.blogspot.com).  When I stitched it on a little scrap of 25 count evenweave, I'd planned on finishing it as a square.  After a visit by The Stitchy Squirrel, I decided to finish it as a circle instead.  It's laced over a piece of thin cardboard and four scraps of bamboo batting.  The lacing is very close to the edge in some spots, so it needs a bit of trim around it to stop fraying.  The box is from the Dollar Tree and painted white.  The hearts are from a fq of quilting fabric.

One of Grey's creations.

Grey made the cart a few years ago.  I decorate it for holidays and different seasons.  The cross stitch is by Shepherd's Bush.

This is my favorite part of the Valentine display.  They're all Kathy Habberman designs.

This is one of the second quilt I ever made.  It came as a little kit and just may have cemented my love for appliqué fossil fern fabrics, hand embroidery on small quilts and hand quilting.

This pattern is a freebie.  You can find it here.  I made it in spring colors with French knots for the flowers in the doorway.  We have quite a few crepe mertyl trees in the yard.

Lizzie Kate designs are always fun to stitch.  This one sat for two or three years laced and ready to finish.  It wasn't until Sunday night that I had the idea to put it in a tray from Dollar Tree (hurray for stash!).  A quick paint job with cream colored chalk paint was all it needed.  Then Monday morning, the stitching was hot glued in.  Just in the nick of time as a gift for Grey.  The big grin on his face made me happy.

It's hard to see, because this dark red is like a black hole and sucks in the light, but this is a little log cabin heart I finished a few years ago.  It's more fossil fern.

I'm having a break from social media for a while.  Things are just busy atm.

When I weighed in on Monday, I'd lost 10 pounds.  To celebrate, I've pulled out this pattern.  Any loss that ends in a zero deserves a new start. 😊

I've had a 23 year love affair with The Chook Shed.  This one came out in 2002 and I've made it a few times.  It's just fun to sew.  There are some unanswered questions about it.  Such as, will there be enough green fabric to make it full size?

Why did I make 9 patches when the pattern calls for 4 patches?

Will these blocks match up size wise with the others?  Where's the rest of the background fabric for these blocks? There's no question as to why it became a long term WIP.....squirrel!

Two squirrels saw a sewing machine today....they predict 6 more weeks of sewing.

Happy Groundhog Squirrel Day!

RSC February fabrics

February's RSC color is teal.  After a good dig around, I found scraps of the four teals
In the stash.  It's just not a color I use much in quilts.

These are the first red scraps I pulled from the hunks and chunks bag.

I want a high contrast between the birds and the background.  The bottom red needs to be swapped out.  The teals will be skipped altogether.  The bottom one is fine, but the others are too light.  That's ok.  I'll just make the red ones this month.

I like the striped legs with this fabric, but it will be too much with busy fabrics.  I have a dark brown that i think will work. The green will be swapped out for a darker one.  Both will be the same for every block.  The bird's beaks will all be the same orange or yellow, too.  They'll (hopefully) pull everything together.  I love making kitchen sink quilts, with many different fabrics, but that won't work for this one.
